NEW YORK (AP) — The playoff-contending New York Yankees have acquired former NL MVP Andrew McCutchen from the San Francisco Giants for two prospects. The teams announced the deal on the last day for trades to be done for players to be eligible for the postseason. San Francisco is getting infielder Abiatal Avelino and right-hander Juan De Paula and is also sending cash to New York.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have added bullpen help for the final stretch, acquiring veteran Xavier Cedeno from the Chicago White Sox for two minor leaguers. Cedeno is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 33 appearances after signing with Chicago as a minor league free agent in January. Also making moves today are the Los Angeles Dodgers. They've bolstered their bullpen by acquiring right-hander Ryan Madson from the Washington Nationals for a minor league pitcher.

NORTON, Mass. (AP) — Justin Rose made his birdies mean something by keeping bogeys off his card for a 6-under 65 and a one-shot lead Friday in the Dell Technologies Championship. A breezy day at the TPC Boston kept scores higher than usual. He had three birdies over his last four holes to lead Russell Knox and Abraham Ancer. Tiger Woods had to rally to salvage a 72.

FORT YATES, N.D. (AP) — The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will use money donated by Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving for drug abuse prevention and youth programs. The All-Star guard visited the Dakota reservation this month for a naming ceremony into the Lakota tribe. He was given the name Little Mountain. His late mother was enrolled in the tribe before being adopted as a youth. Irving donated $110,000 to the tribe, with the stipulation it support the reservation's youth.
