September 27, 2018

NEEDLES — Voters can hear statements and answers to audience questions from candidates for Needles City Council during a forum set for Wednesday, Sept. 26. The moderated event begins at 6 p.m. in the El Garces, adjacent Santa Fe Park in the 900 block of Front Street. It’s hosted by the Needles Downtown Business Alliance.

Current Mayor Ed Paget M.D., incumbent Councilor Louise Evans, challengers Barbara L. Beard, Zachery Longacre and Timothy Terral are running for three seats on Needles City Council. Former mayor and current vice mayor Jeff Williams is running unopposed for mayor in the Nov. 6 general election.

Also running unopposed and at last update not scheduled to speak at the forum are incumbents John Paul Lusk and Laurie Ann Fragoso, who retain their seats on the Needles Unified School District Board of Trustees. They will not appear on the Nov. 6 ballot. Two additional trustees are being sought for appointment to the school board: one from Needles, the other from the Goffs-Essex area.

Former NUSD Superintendent Charles David Renquest is running unopposed for the Palo Verde Community College District Board of Trustees.
