Bills Place Safety Coy Wire on IR
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) _ Bills safety Coy Wire was placed on season-ending injured reserve Friday with a hamstring injury.
Wire was hurt Saturday in Buffalo’s win over Cincinnati.
The Bills’ third-round draft pick in 2002, Wire has spent the majority of the season on special teams, making eight tackles. In limited action on defense, he finished with six tackles.
Wire started 15 games at safety for the Bills as a rookie, but lost his starting role when Buffalo signed Lawyer Milloy before the 2003 season.
To replace Wire, Buffalo signed running back Jon Goldsberry to its 53-man roster. Goldsberry, an undrafted rookie free agent, was on the Bills’ practice squad all year.
