Six Knights score in Havasu boys soccer’s 8-0 win over Parker
Jonathon Lopez and Julio Barrera both scored two goals in the Lake Havasu boys soccer teams 8-0 win over Parker on Tuesday.
With the win, the Knights are now 3-0 overall and have only been scored on once. Havasu has outscored its opponents 33-1 since the start of the season.
Despite the blow out, the Knights got a slow start to the night according to coach Christina Gibbs.
“We didn’t score our first goal until the 18th minute,” Gibbs said. “We kind of could not connect on passes in the finishing third. Our passes from the defense to the midfielders were good but we couldn’t connect up front. The second half we got into a better flow.
I think we are kind of spoiled from practicing on turf where the ball runs pretty true and then playing on a grass field that was pretty uneven.”
Johnathan Perez, Randy Gallegos, Hayden Bekkedahl and Tristan Fowler each added a goal to round out the final score.
The Knights again dominated the ball for the third straight game and had 20 shots on goal with seven coming from Fowler. However, according to Gibbs, a lot of those came in the first half where a lot of shots went wide past the goal.
Havasu will look to keep its when streak alive when it hosts the Mohave County Soccer Tournament at Lee Barnes Stadium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday where the Knights will face Lee Williams at 4 p.m. in their first game.
