Family wants investigation into US stun gun death
MIAMI BEACH, Florida (AP) — Relatives are asking for an independent investigation into the death of a U.S. teen who died after police used a stun gun on him.
Police found 18-year-old Israel Hernandez-Llach spray-painting a building early Tuesday. The teen ran but was cornered. Chief Ray Martinez says the teen ran at officers, and one shot the teen in the chest with the stun gun.
Hernandez-Llach went into medical distress and died at a hospital.
The medical examiner didn’t rule on a cause of death after an autopsy Wednesday. Further tests are pending, but the police chief says the teen didn’t suffer from any other injuries.
His sister, Offir Hernandez, told The Miami Herald the family wants answers.
