MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Fire broke out Thursday at a 17-story hotel, forcing evacuation of the building as flames and smoke poured out of a lower-level room.

There were no immediate reports of injuries at the Castle Beach Resort, said Debra Berg, a spokeswoman for the Miami Beach Fire Department.

``We’ve got the fire pretty much contained,″ she said.

A person who answered the phone at the front desk wouldn’t comment except to say, ``I’m sorry, we’re evacuating″ as an alarm went off in the background.

The building is in the midst of the resort city’s row of high-rise hotels and condominiums along Collins Avenue.
