Two juveniles killed when truck rear-ends semi near St. Anthony
On Tuesday, August, 7, 2018, at approximately 11:33 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash, westbound U.S. Highway 20 at milepost 344, near St. Anthony.
Elmer D. Nelson, 60, of Idaho Falls, was driving a Kenworth fuel tanker and stopped at the railroad crossing westbound U.S. 20 at milepost 344. A juvenile driving a 1998 Chevy C15 pickup rear-ended Nelson. The juvenile along with another juvenile passenger were not wearing seat belts. Nelson was wearing a seat belt. Both juveniles succumbed to their injuries on scene. Next of kin for both juveniles have been notified.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, St. Anthony Police Department, and Fremont County EMS and fire.
The lanes were blocked for four hours.
