Helen Brooks, 95, Beaver Dam
Helen M. Brooks, 95, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019.
A visitation for Helen will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Hillcrest Drive, Beaver Dam. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Wenzel officiating. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
Helen Margaret was born on Sept. 30, 1923, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Schultz) Vorpahl in Juneau. On March 15, 1941, she was united in marriage with Gilbert Brooks in Beaver Dam.
Helen was a faithful and active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. She was a member of Peace Circle and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Beaver Dam Hospital Auxiliary and the DAV Auxiliary. Her passion was her family, and she truly treasured time spent with them. Helen will be fondly remembered for always saying “I love you more” in both English and German.
Helen is survived by her daughter-in-law, Catherine Brooks of Platteville; her grandchildren, Christine (Hugh) Zuengler of Middleton, Lizette Hammer (Jeff Blaser) of Beaver Dam, Mari Brooks of West Bend, Colleen Brooks (Lawrence) Johns of Milwaukee and Benjamin (Julie) Brooks of Germantown; her great-grandchildren, Mylik, Zachary, Andrew, Hannah, Isabella, Alejandro, AnaMaria, Quentin, Tyler, Felix, Clara and Nolan; and her great-great-granddaughter, Naomi. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert; daughter Karen; son Howard; grandson Andrew; her two brothers, Arthur “Tom” and Wallace; and her six sisters, Adaline, Gladys, Margaret, Erna, Martha and Maida.
Helen’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Sylvan Crossing for their wonderful care of Helen and for making Sylvan Crossings feel like home. They also wish to thank the staff of Generations Hospice for their compassionate care of Helen.
