Speeding, distracted drivers keep State Police busy Memorial Day weekend
Connecticut State Police have kept busy enforcing the law this Memorial Day weekend.
The department responded to 5,698 calls for service, assisted 267 motorists and responded to 242 accidents, two of which had minor injuries.
State Police also made 18 driving under the influence arrests, issued 484 citations for speeding, 202 warnings for speeding, 371 citations for seat belt violations and issued 35 citations and 12 warnings for distracted driving.
There were two deadly crashes last year on Memorial Day weekend. This time last year, troopers had made more DUI arrests, but less seat belt citations.
