Grant to help support West Virginia orchestra’s season

May 28, 2019

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will receive a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Orchestra officials say the award will help support the orchestra’s 2019-2020 season, helping make its music more accessible to more West Virginians.

The orchestra presents classical, pops and chamber-music concerts annually throughout West Virginia. The orchestra is entering its 80th season.

Officials say that the award, combined with support from the state Department of Arts, Culture and History, means the music will keep playing.

The award was among grants approved recently by National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter.
