Clinton Names Senior Officials At Agriculture, Other Agencies

WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Clinton has selected a California farmer for the No. 2 job at the Agriculture Department and three veterans of congressional staffs for other posts.

Richard Rominger, a former director of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, was named deputy secretary of Agriculture. He runs a family farm raising alfalfa, barley, beans, corn and other crops.

Gene Moos was named undersecretary for international affairs and commodity programs, Wardell Townsend Jr. was named assistant secretary for administration and Francis Vacca was named assistant secretary for congressional relations.

In other appointments Monday, Clinton named:

-Michael Stegman as assistant secretary for policy development and research at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

-Everett Ehrlich as undersecretary for economic affairs at the Department of Commerce.

-Victor Marrero as U.S. representative to the United Nation’s Economic and Security Council.

-Rick Indefurth as U.S. alternative for special political affairs at the U.N.
