Clarification: Gun Ban Story
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ In a story sent Dec. 15, The Associated Press described a proposed ballot initiative on a weapons ban in San Francisco. The story should have specified that the ban would apply only to handguns of private individuals. Other firearms such as sport rifles could be kept by private owners in the city.
A separate provision of the proposed initiative was described as a ban on the sale, manufacture and distribution of handguns in San Francisco. Instead, it would apply to all firearms if the measure passes next November.
