SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Police have arrested the suspect in a brutal beating that occurred in broad daylight near a busy San Francisco shopping area and was captured on video.

The San Francisco Chronicle says police identified 25-year-old Melton Earl Kelley as the suspect seen on a bystander’s video repeatedly punching and stomping on another man before robbing him and then fleeing.

Kelley was arrested Sunday and faces 11 felony charges including attempted murder and robbery.

In the graphic video shared on social media, the victim is heard yelling, “I can’t breathe” as onlookers urge the attacker to stop, saying, “You’re about to kill him!”

The Friday afternoon attack took place near Union Square, a popular shopping area that draws crowds of tourists.

The victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
