HARVEY WEINSTEIN - TRAFFICKING

NEW YORK (AP) — Despite objections by his attorneys, a second federal judge has ruled that a human trafficking law can be used in a civil lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein. The judge in New York ruled a lawsuit against the disgraced Hollywood bigwig can proceed. The suit was filed by Alexandra Canosa, a former consultant for Weinstein’s company. Earlier, another judge in New York ruled the trafficking law can be applied in a different case involving Weinstein. Scores of women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

TARAJI P. HENSON SEEKS TO DEFUSE R. KELLY REMARKS

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Taraji P. Henson says people who know her wouldn’t have to ask whether she is defending R. Kelly amid new scrutiny of his dealings with young women and girls. Henson, who stars in “What Men Want” says her post about the R. Kelly was taken out of context. She recently posted on Instagram that she searched the hashtags #MuteRKelly and #MuteHarveyWeinstein — and found there were more for R. Kelly than for Weinstein. She typed “Hmmm.” Critics said the term “mute” wouldn’t apply to Weinstein, since he isn’t a singer — and that her comment seemed to defend R. Kelly. In an interview with The Associated Press, Henson said she was “just making an observation.”

MICHAEL JACKSON’S FAMILY DENOUNCES SUNDANCE FILM

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A “public lynching.” That is what Michael Jackson’s family calls the release of a new film alleging he sexually abused two men when they were boys. Jackson’s kin are out with a statement attacking “Leaving Neverland,” which premiered last week at the Sundance Film Festival. In the documentary, Wade Robson and James Safechuck say Jackson abused them as kids. Jackson’s family calls the men “perjurers” — because they both denied under oath that Jackson never did anything wrong to them.

ROSEANNE BARR - ISRAEL

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — And here you thought Roseanne Barr was fired from her TV show because of racist tweets. She’s now saying she was let go because she’s a staunch supporter of Israel. Barr made the new claim in Tel Aviv yesterday, where she said ABC made her the victim of BDS. That’s a Palestinian-led movement calling for boycotts, divestment and sanctions against. ABC canceled the “Roseanne” reboot last May after Barr tweeted racist remarks about former Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett.
