Stretch of 80-degree days keeps things hotter than normal
Tuesday will be pleasant, with partly cloudy skies and highs hovering around 80 degrees, meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.
The morning started with temperatures in the low 60s. A high-pressure system is keeping the weather calm.
Tuesday’s overnight low will be 59 degrees.
The week will warm up slightly, with Wednesday’s high at 83 degrees and Thursday’s high at 84 degrees.
The normal high for this time of year is 78 degrees, although the Triangle typically sees its first 90-degree day in the middle of May, Gardner said.
Isolated showers are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, but there’s only a 20 percent chance for rain.
There’s another chance for thunderstorms this weekend as a cold front moves in Friday.
There’s a 30 percent chance for rain Friday. If it does rain, it will be the sixth straight wet Friday.
There’s a 40 percent chance for showers and storms Saturday and Sunday, Gardner said.
