CLARKSON — Services for Charles A. Machacek, 88, North Bend, formerly of Leigh, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. The Rev. Stephen Niles will officiate. Burial will be in Clarkson National Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday and continue on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time, all at the church.
He died Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Birchwood Manor in North Bend.
Charles Allen Machacek was born March 7, 1930, in Stanton County, to Frank Sr. and Hedvicka (Janousek) Machacek. He grew up in Stanton County, attending Stanton County School District 42.
Charles worked on the family farm before entering the U.S. Army on Jan. 24, 1952, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 23, 1953.
On April 29, 1954, Charles was united in marriage to Marylin Pacas at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. Charles farmed in the Leigh area for a few years before going to work for the Leigh Co-op, which became Maple Valley Co-op. Charles did fuel delivery for several years for the co-op.
Charles was a volunteer fireman and part-time police officer for the village of Leigh for a number of years.
Charles is survived by his spouse, Marylin Machacek of North Bend; two sons, Rick (Barb) Machacek of Leigh and Randy Machacek of St. Peters, Mo.; two granddaughters Jennifer (Travis) Dicke of Creston and Ashley Machacek of Leigh; his great-grandchildren, Jaycee Schomberg, Paisley Dicke and Karter Dicke.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Hedvicka Machacek; a son, Roger Machacek; a daughter-in-law, Kim Machacek; his sisters, Helen Jedlicka and Adella Srb; and his brothers, Ed, Emil and Frank Jr. Machacek.
