I-290 bridge work means lane closures starting Friday
CHICAGO (AP) — State officials say there will be lane closures this week on Interstate 290 between Illinois 72 and Interstate 90.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Tuesday the lane closures are necessary to make bridge repairs on southbound I-290. The road is also Illinois 53 in that location.
Transportation officials say the reductions will start by Friday. It will mean two express lanes and one local lane throughout the targeted work zone. The work should be completed by late fall.
I-290 and Illinois 53 repairs will be made on bridges over Interstate 90, Illinois 58 (Golf Road), Woodfield Road and Higgins Road in Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows.
Officials say motorists should allow for extra time to make trips through this area. Watch for flaggers and obey speed limits.
