Brazil police launch manhunt to capture drug trafficker
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazilian police have launched a major operation in a Rio de Janeiro slum to capture a major drug trafficker believed to be behind the recent robbery of almost 200 motorcycles.
At least 300 police officers combed the Morro da Pedreira slum searching for Celso Pinheiro Pimenta who allegedly ordered the theft of 197 motorcycles from a transit authority depot.
Police recovered at least 60 motorcycles a few hours after the operation got underway.
Police say that Pimenta coordinates drug trafficking activities in Morro da Pedreira and four other nearby slums.
