West Virginia man charged with woman’s death in fire
FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) — Authorities in West Virginia say a man has been charged with murder and arson in the death of a woman.
WBOY-TV reports Clyde Dean Jr. has been charged in the death of Cheryl Willis, who was found in a burned Fairmont apartment on March 15. She died the next day.
A Fairmont Police Department statement says investigators believed the fire was intentionally set and had the state police crime lab test evidence from the scene.
Police previously said a person of interest in the case was in custody on an unrelated charge. It’s unclear if that person was Dean or what charges were involved. It’s unclear what led authorities to Dean.
Online court records don’t show if Dean has a lawyer. He’s being held at North Central Regional Jail.
