Francis Gonzagowski, 84, Baraboo
Francis “Tuff” Gonzagowski, 84, of Baraboo, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, due to a car accident.
Francis, son of Frank and Lottie (James) Gonzagowski, was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Baraboo. He was a graduate of Baraboo High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. Tuff drove for Baraboo Motors and Adessa. On Feb. 14, 1978, he was united in marriage to Florence “Flo” Lake. In his free time he enjoyed watching golf, NASCAR, gambling at the casino, crossword puzzles, scratch offs, going to Packer games thanks to Bruce, St. Joe’s bingo and attending his grandson’s ballgames.
He is survived by his loving wife, Flo; daughters, Melissa (Bryan) Deke, Laurie (Terry) Coplien, Linda (Don) Thomas, Christina Fish; sons, Jeffrey Gonzagowski Sr., Mark (Evie) Gonzagowski, Richard (Cindi) Gonzagowski; grandchildren, Steven L., Shelbea, Nicholas, Nathan, Ryan, Jason, Kaci, Matthew, Jeffrey Jr., Steven G. and Daniel; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Leonard, John (Cathy), Robert (Carole) and Roger (Marilyn); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; sisters, Dorothy Becker, Cathy Hite and Virginia Marousek; brother, Stanley “Bud;” and grandson, Allen Nelson.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Redlin Funeral Home with George Burgess officiating. Military rites will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at the funeral home with visitation to follow until the time of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
