Legislator hurt in motorcycle crash
The Indiana House fiscal leader was involved in a serious motorcycle crash Wednesday morning in Michigan.
Rep. Tim Brown, R-Crawfordsville, was traveling on his motorcycle alongside Rep. Mike Speedy, R-Indianapolis, when Brown struck an SUV that pulled out in front of them, according to a statement from House Speaker Brian Bosma. Speedy was able to avoid the vehicle and was not injured.
“Out of respect for Tim’s family, we cannot confirm any details about his condition at this time,” Bosma said. “Tim is an invaluable member of our leadership team, a dedicated public servant and one of my most cherished friends. Our prayers are with him, his family and Rep. Speedy.”
Gov. Eric Holcomb released a statement saying “in addition to being a public servant and an extraordinary leader, Dr. Tim Brown is a fighter. Janet and I are praying for his recovery and ask Hoosiers across the state to join us.”
Brown is House Ways and Means chairman and has served the Indiana House since 1994. He is an avid motorcyclist and you can often find him visiting sites in Indiana and surrounding states with his wife, Jane. He is a retired doctor and is known as “Doc Brown” in the legislature.
He also makes use of Twitter and often tweets #selfieswithtimbrown.
