BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) _ Emmy-winning director Louis J. Horvitz has agreed to oversee his fifth consecutive Oscar telecast this year.

Horvitz’s selection was announced Monday by Gil Cates, producer of the 73rd Academy Awards.

Last year, Horvitz received his third Emmy for his direction of the 72nd Academy Awards broadcast. He has won two other Emmys, in 1996 and 1998, for directing the show.

``Lou’s great talent is in telling the story. He focuses us on the excitement of the moment. He is a truly masterful event director,″ Cates said.

Horvitz also directed last year’s prime time and daytime ``Emmy Awards″ shows.

The awards, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will be televised March 25 on ABC.
