Mets Get Redman From Pirates
NEW YORK (AP) _ Outfielder Tike Redman’s contract was purchased by the New York Mets on Monday from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 28-year-old Redman hit .251 in 319 at-bats last season with 20 doubles, two homers and 26 RBIs. He made his major league debut with Pittsburgh in 2000 and has a .277 career average, 15 homers and 101 RBIs in 392 games.
Redman was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Nov. 19, which meant the team had 10 days to place him on waivers, trade him or send him outright to the minors.
