MUMFORD AND SONS KNEW THEY HAD SOMETHING WITH “GUIDING LIGHT”

NEW YORK (AP) — The first time Mumford and Sons bassist Ted Dwane heard the song “Guiding Light,” he knew it was important. He’s just grateful they didn’t mess it up. Dwane says it proved to be a tricky song to get right, partly because they knew it had such potential. Keyboardist Ben Lovett says singer Marcus Mumford stayed late one night to work up that song and they all stopped in their tracks when they heard it. Dwane says it’s the perfect first single for their “Delta” album because it lays out their intentions. Plus, Dwane says, it’s fun to sing. “Delta” comes out Friday.

SARAH BRIGHTMAN RELEASES “HYMN”

NEW YORK (AP) — Sarah Brightman needed a happy place. That’s why she made her new album, “Hymn.” Brightman says with everything that’s going on in the world, she found herself feeling a little unsafe. She created an album to make her feel safe and familiar. Brightman had trained in 2014 for a journey to the International Space Station, which got put on hold. Brightman says that training gave her perspective for the album. She says it made her realize what a beautiful planet Earth is and no matter how mundane life can get, human beings can override most things. “Hymn” is out now.

It includes a 2007 Bentley, several pieces of furniture, their silverware and a set of green pottery that’s shaped like lettuce. Several pieces of art are for sale, including a Picasso, a Matisse and many that Sinatra himself created. A portrait of Sinatra done by Norman Rockwell is part of the auction.
