Stamford police as for help finding missing girl

May 3, 2019

STAMFORD—City police are asking the public’s help in finding a missing 14-year-old girl who they believe has run away with a 19-year-old city man.

According to a press release from the police department’s Youth Bureau, officers say they are looking for Maria Micheo-Alvarez, 14, of Stamford. Micheo-Alvarez has been missing since April 26 and her disappearance was reported to police on May 1.

Police say they believe that Micheo-Alvarez may be in the company of Alex Eduardo Lemus, 19, who is also from Stamford. The department has an active arrest warrant for Lemus, charging him with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, the release said.

With the police unable to reach the two, they are asking anyone with information on their whereabouts to call investigators at 203 977-4444.
