Three Bodies Found in Colo. Corral
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) _ Three men were found shot to death in a corral at a rural boarding stable that neighbors say was regularly used for illegal cockfights.
Authorities identified one victim as Jesus Antonio Cordova-Gandara, 29. Identities of the others had not been confirmed.
No suspects were named.
As for the rumor that the shootings resulted from a cockfight gone bad, Adams County sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Kercheval said ``we’ve been told if it’s a cockfight it usually happens on the weekends ... It’s not being discounted but there’s nothing to support that yet.″
The stable at the end of a country road is in a rural area northeast of Denver dotted by small houses and farms. The bodies were found when a man arrived at the stable to feed his horses Wednesday morning.
Marie Prince, who lives next door, said she heard gunshots Tuesday night as she watched a movie with her three children.
``The dog jumped up and started scraping at the window,″ she said.
Gunshots are fairly common in the neighborhood, with people shooting at foxes to keep them away from chickens, said Stephen Prince, Marie’s husband.
