Planning commission discusses river overlay district
NORFOLK - The North Fork of the Elkhorn River Overlay Distract was topic of discussion during Tuesday’s Norfolk Planning Commission meeting.
The commissioners recommended two amendments to the city code that clarifies the intent of the overlay district and adds new members to the review board.
John Fox a resident in the area asked for some clarification on how new members would be selected for the board.
City Planner Val Grimes said the new members will be appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council.
“What they’re proposing is comprised from five to nine members, and at least four of the nine members shall reside in the Elkhorn Overlay District, and no member of the city council shall be a member.”
A number of commissioners expressed support with the member increase saying it’ll give more representation to the area.
The commissioners voted unanimously to recommend both amendments.
