Man sentenced to life for fatal shooting outside nightclub
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Boston man has been sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of a Massachusetts gang rival at a Rhode Island nightclub.
The Providence Journal reports 29-year-old Rashawn Banks pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder in the June 2018 death of 25-year-old Jacorey Sanders at Ultra nightclub in downtown Providence.
The prosecutors agreed to dismiss charges of conspiracy and discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence that ended in death in exchange for his plea.
Without the deal, Banks would have had to serve consecutive life sentences under state law.
Four other men were also charged in connection with the shooting.
