Man Awakened by Brothers’ Friends Shoots Girl For Smirking, Police Say
DETROIT (AP) _ A man who apparently thought his younger brother’s friends were too noisy fatally shot a 17-year-old girl in the head with a sawed-off shotgun because she smirked at him, police said Wednesday.
Kenneth Aussicker, 25, faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony in the shooting death of Stacie Scherz, said Harper Woods police Lt. Douglas Garascia.
Aussicker’s younger brother and four of his friends had gathered at Aussicker’s house after an evening out at 2 a.m. Sunday, Garascia said.
Minutes after they entered the house, Aussicker, who apparently had gone to bed, told them to line up and allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who made a sound, he said.
″She didn’t laugh or giggle,″ Garascia said. ″She smirked and he put the gun to her head and it went off.″
Aussicker was held in Wayne County Jail without bond, awaiting a preliminary examination Sept. 22.
If convicted, he faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
