Trade group honors Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

December 18, 2018

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has been recognized by a musical concert trade magazine as being one of the top three music and outdoor amphitheaters in the world.

In a release sent on Tuesday, Dec. 18, Pavilion officials announced that the magazine “Pollstar” had ranked the popular concert venue as the third best in the world based on ticket sales for the 2018 year. The release stated that the venue had sold more than 467,000 tickets between Nov. 23, 2017, and Nov. 21, 2018. The Pavilion was behind only two other venues in the rankings: the Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, and the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey.

In the release, Jerry McDonald, president and CEO of the Pavilion, said the past year — which is the 29th season for the venue — was “incredible” and will propel the Pavilion into 2019 for its 30th season of concerts and performances.

“We are fortunate to work with our dedicated partner Live Nation, the No. 1 concert promoter in the world, and for our supportive community and world class staff,” McDonald was quoted as saying in the release.

Among the musical acts that drew large crowds in the past year are: Foo Fighters, Post Malone, Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney and other bands.
