2 from city killed in Whitley crash

A man and woman from Fort Wayne died in a one-vehicle crash in Whitley County.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department was called at 12:34 a.m. Saturday to County Road 150 North and Johnson Road.

Heather L. Jackson, 33, was driving west on County Road 150 North at high speed when she ran a stop sign at Johnson Road, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree in the middle of the vehicle’s driver side on the north side of the road, police said.

Both Jackson and Kenneth Baker, 28, died at the scene, police said. 

Help sought in moped crash

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a vehicle involved in a crash on Indiana 15 near Warsaw. 

Emergency crews were called around midnight Saturday and found a moped that appeared to have been hit from behind by a vehicle, the sheriff’s department said. 

The moped driver, Michael J. McGrath, 44, and passenger, Shelly R. McGrath, 42, both from Warsaw, were found on the east edge of Indiana 15 near Monoquet Road, police said. 

Michael McGrath was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with head injuries. Shelly McGrath had non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital. 

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 574-267-5667. 

The crash is under investigation.
