Flood Death Toll Now at 34
DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) _ Four more deaths were reported Thursday from floods in southwestern Bangladesh, bringing the total to 34.
Government television said the latest victims died when their house collapsed in Jessore, 170 miles west of Dhaka.
It also reported flooding of the Khowai and Manu rivers in northeastern Bangladesh, which it said were running at levels more than eight feet above capacity.
No information on damage in either flood area was available and local officials could not be reached because of disrupted communications.
Relief officials said said the flood waters had begun receding in southwestern Bangladesh.
