Giving Tuesday campaign highlights nonprofits dedicated to equity, community building

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Social worker Pam Turos wanted to help more – more than she could on the job, more organizations than the usual charity circuit, more areas and people in Cleveland,

So a few years ago she quit her job and launched a new program to gain attention and support for smaller, lesser known Cleveland nonprofits through telling their story.

That effort, Good Cause Creative, has led to WISH Cleveland, a “local news source for change makers, social justice seekers and idealists.”

This year, Turos and company are taking their efforts a step further. Centered around Giving Tueday Cle, a city-wide giving initiative meant to highlight the work of nonprofit organizations that serve the Greater Cleveland community and curate a spirit of philanthropy, WISH has chosen 36 local organizations to highlight from today through November 27.

“They are all organizations in the city of Cleveland, dedicated to equity issues and community building. They include Recess Cleveland, Shooting Without Bullets, University Settlement and others. See a full list at: https://wishcleveland.com/

“We wanted to work with groups who don’t have the resources to tell their own story,” says Turos. “We’re about to change the way our city thinks about nonprofit fundraising.

Donations for the groups are now being accepted at https://www.wishcle.org/ On November 27, each will receive up to $10,000 at an final campaign event RedSpace.
