Author to discuss her Danbury-inspired historical fiction in Redding

The author of a historical fiction about the British soldiers’ raid on Danbury during the American Revolutionary War will be on hand at the Mark Twain Library on Saturday.

Millicent Bell Hughes will speak from 2 to 3 p.m. The author talk is sponsored by the Redding Historical Society.

Her work “1777 - Danbury on Fire!” follows a 12-year-old boy and incorporates events and characters from real Danbury patriots and loyalists.

Hughes will discuss her journey to publish the book, the importance of genealogy and how to find information through different sources. Hughes’ ancestors were in Danbury during the war.
