Friday is last day to sign up for Senior Games

BULLHEAD CITY — Any athlete age 50 years or older can still register for the 2019 Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games at www.seniorgames.co. Registration ends today at the close of business.

The sports include swimming, pickleball, softball, 5K run, track and field, bowling, horseshoes, powerlifting, golf, basketball skills, table tennis and cornhole.

Many of the events are broken into categories based on athletes’ ages and skills. Medals are awarded to the winners of each event category with one gold, silver, and bronze medal awarded in each event.

The athlete fee is $30 with sports fees ranging from $5 to $55 depending on the activity. There is no limit to how many events in which individuals can take part.

Softball team registration is $325, and the tournament counts as a Senior Softball-USA qualifier.

“We have over 50 softball teams registered with several teams in the men’s 80 category, said Kristin Williams, Bullhead City recreation supervisor. “We are excited to see a wide range of ages joining us for the tournament.”

The opening ceremony for the games begins at 4 p.m. Nevada time Jan. 13 at the Colorado Belle. The ceremony will serve as athlete check-in. Athletes also get a T-shirt and swag bag, which includes vendor samples and exclusive coupons.
