Calvary Baptist edges Huntington St. Joe

RIPLEY, W.Va. - Robert Clutter converted a three-point play with two seconds left for Calvary Baptist in an 84-81 victory against Huntington St. Joe in a Friday boys basketball game of the Ripley Holiday Classic.

Clutter had a double-double game with 33 points and 11 rebounds. Luke Pauley followed with 17 points, Issac Massie scored 15 and Scotty Parsons added 13.

Sam Adkins tossed in 31 points for St. Joe, which plays Point Pleasant at 5:45 p.m. Saturday. Corey Sweeney was next with 18 while Gunnell Hickman and Noah Bolton both netted 10.

Calvary Baptist will take on Ripley in the championship game.

GREENUP CO. 55, ANDERSON CO. 52: Logan Robinson scored 21 and the Musketeers overcame a 12-point deficit to win.

COAL GROVE 60, IRONTON ST. JOE 48: Peyton Smith scored 18 points to pace the Hornets over the Flyers in the Ironton Classic. Ryan Payne led the Flyers with 15 points.

Also in the event, Chillicothe defeated Ironton 59-51 and Huntington Prep Regional beat Wesley Christian 60-54.

The Classic continues at 3 p.m. Saturday with the first of four games.

MORGANTOWN 49, LOGAN 39: The Mohigans (3-0) shot 25 free throws in the fourth quarter and 48 in the game to the Wildcats 10 in picking up a victory. Cam Selders paced Morgantown with 16 points. David Early led Logan (4-1) with 13 points. Drew Hatfield scored 10.

WHEELERSBURG 78, PORTSMOUTH WEST 46: Tanner Holden scored 26 points and Connor Mullins 13 as the Pirates clobbered the Senators, who received 23 points from Jesse Johnson and 10 from Dylan Bradford.

JOHNSON CENTRAL 69, CORDIA 62: Double-figure scorers for the Golden Eagles (5-1) were Jacob Rice (20, Gabe Ferrell (17), Cory VanHoose (14) and Isaiah May (11). VanHoose also collected 10 rebounds.

Darryen Pringle pumped in 25 points for Cordia (1-8).

GRACE CHRISTIAN 63, FAIRVIEW 53: Hazley Matthews scored 23 and Samantha Wells grabbed 13 rebounds for Grace Christian (4-3). Hannah Benge and Emily Hutchinson scored 13 and 11 respectively. Matthews delivered seven assists.

Jordan Rakes (16), Taylor Hamilton (15) and Grace Crisp (14) had double-figure points for Fairview (3-2).

WOODFORD COUNTY 74, ASHLAND 50: The Yellowjackets (7-1) used a 17-4 run to defeat the Tomcats (3-4) in Versailles, Kentucky. Devaunte Robinson led Ashland with 16 points.

ROCK HILL 56, IRONTON ST. JOE 36: The Redwomen (1-5) went to Ironton and defeated the Flyers (3-6) as Rileigh Morris scored 21 and Makayla Scott 12. Emma Whaley led Ironton St. Joe with 13 points.

WHEELERSBURG 57, SOUTH WEBSTER 38: Kaylee Darnell scored 17 and led the Pirates (8-1) to a triumph over the Jeeps (2-8). Abbie Kallner scored 14 and Ellie Kallner and Alaina Keeney scored 13 each. Faith Maloney led South Webster with 14 points.

GALLIA ACADEMY 57, POINT PLEASANT 47: Hunter Copley scored 34 and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Blue Angels (5-4) defeated the Big Blacks (1-7) in Centenary, Ohio. Abby Cremeans chipped in 12 points. Allison Henderson led Point Pleasant with 14 points. Brooke Warner scored 11 and Nancy Vettese 10.

PORTSMOUTH 46, MANCHESTER 36: Jasmine Eley scored 27 and Hannah Hughes 12 as the Trojans (3-6) beat the Greyhounds in Portsmouth, Ohio.

PORTSMOUTH NOTRE DAME 61, GREEN 15: The Titans (8-0) remained undefeated, beating the Bobcats (3-6) behind 15 points from Katie Dettwiller and 12 by Ava Hassel. Kasey Kimbler paced Green with five points.
