IN THE NEWS: TRUMP VS. APPLE
UNDATED (AP) — The latest battle between President Donald Trump and an American company pits the president against Apple. The president went off on the high-tech company over the weekend — using Twitter to demand that Apple move its production to the U.S. Trump concedes in his tweet that some Apple Inc. products may become more expensive if his administration imposes "massive" additional tariffs on Chinese-made goods. Last week, Apple said a proposed new round of $200 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese imports would raise prices on some of its products, including the Apple Watch and the Mac mini. The company is highly exposed to a trade war between the U.S. and China. It makes many of its products for the U.S. market in China.
IN THE NEWS: EQUIFAX BREACH STUDIED
UNDATED (AP) — A new report by congressional investigators details how hackers broke into Equifax last year in a breach that exposed the financial information of more than 145 million Americans. The report finds a server hosting Equifax's online dispute portal was running software with a known weak spot. The hackers, who haven't been identified, jumped through the opening. The attack went unnoticed by Equifax for more than six weeks. The lawmakers who requested the report say they will press the Trump administration on the lack of enforcement actions against the giant credit-reporting agency.
ON THE WEB: TESLA WOES
CYBERSPACE (AP) — Another executive departure, another controversy over the CEO's behavior, another stock drop. It's becoming part of the pattern for Tesla. The latest controversy: Elon Musk taking a hit off an apparent marijuana-tobacco joint during a podcast interview that made its rounds on YouTube. As for the company's stock — it begins trading today more than 6 percent lower than it started Friday — its lowest point since April.
