Animated reindeer stolen from Swan City Park in Beaver Dam
Be on the lookout for a local Grinch.
Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a press release Monday that an animated talking reindeer was stolen from Swan City Park. The reindeer, which was part of the holiday light display at the park, was cut down and unscrewed from the Mill Street shelter.
Schmidt is the chairman for the Beaver Dam Rotary Lights committee and noticed the display was gone last week. He said he is extremely disappointed in the act given how businesses and individuals donate to light up the park.
Last year, someone stole a light projector from the band shell. The committee will look into funding additional security that would take away from money used to create displays.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the reindeer display can contact the Beaver Dam Police Department at 920-887-4614 or the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office at 920-386-3726.
“It is our hope that just as in the movie, the Grinch’s heart will grow three sizes and the display will be returned from where it was taken for all to enjoy,” Schmidt said.
This is the second year the Beaver Dam Rotary put on the display at the park, raising more than $13,000 for the display this year. The lights will be up until Jan. 2, with special events on Saturday and Dec. 15.
