Melbourne Victory tied for 1st in A-League with Perth
SYDNEY (AP) — Shane Smeltz’s second goal of the match in the 85th minute gave Sydney FC a 3-3 draw with the Melbourne Victory in Australia’s A-League on Saturday, preventing the Victory from taking over outright first place.
The Victory are level on points with the Perth Glory, four ahead of Adelaide and Wellington. Perth could regain first place on its own with a win in the final match of the round Sunday against Adelaide.
Earlier Saturday, Wellington and Melbourne City played to a scoreless draw while Newcastle’s Lee Ki-je’s goal in the third minute of stoppage time gave the Jets a 1-1 draw with Asian champions Western Sydney.
On Friday, defending champions Brisbane moved into the top six with a 2-0 win over Central Coast, the Roar’s third win in a row.
