November 30, 2018

The Mid-Plains Community College Board of Governors accepted a clean audit report for 2017-18, as presented by Kevin Sylvester of Dana F. Cole and Co. LLP, at its regular meeting on Wednesday in North Platte.

The board also approved the low bid from Kearney-based Great Plains Asbestos Control for $74,300 to do complete abatement and disposal of asbestos-containing materials for the McCook Community College East Campus, formerly the Elks Club in McCook.

The continuing membership in the Nebraska Community College Insurance Trust was approved for a three-year period from July 1, 2019, until June 30, 2022.

Amendments of the Mid-Plains Educators Association and Mid-Plains Vocational Educators Association were approved for faculty negotiating agreements. These amendments will allow them to have the option to choose a health savings account.

The board recognized Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond for being MPCC’s Distinguished Alumnus for 2018.

Dr. Jody Tomanek, area vice president of academic affairs and vice president of NPCC, was recognized as the recipient of the Nebraska Community College Association Administrator’s Award.

Tomanek was presented the award at the NCCA annual meeting in Norfolk earlier this month.
