November 13, 2018

A 25-year-old Fort Wayne man has been identified as the victim of a shooting in a West State Boulevard parking lot Monday evening.

Brinden R. Hall Fletcher died from a gunshot wound or wounds, and his death is the 40th homicide of the year in Allen County, the county coroner’s office said in a statement following an autopsy.

He was taken by a private car to a local hospital after the 5:50 p.m. shooting, and was pronounced dead a short time after arrival, the statement said.

Fort Wayne police have said the shooting may have resulted from an interaction in the parking lot of West State Plaza.

Police responding to the shooting report found one man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds; he was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. They were then told about a second victim, who had already been taken away from the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by Fort Wayne police, the county prosecutor’s office and the coroner’s office.
