Child porn yields 15 years in prison
Darin Kaufman, 37, of Fort Wayne, has been sentenced in federal court to 15 years in prison for possession and receipt of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release, according to a statement Monday by U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch.
U.S. District Court Judge Theresa Springmann sentenced Kaufman after he pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of possession of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the statement.
Kaufman received and possessed the pornography from January 2014 through November 2014, the statement said. He was found with images from different child pornography series that are known to law enforcement. Kaufman entered a guilty plea in May of 2016. He has been in custody since his arrest stemming from the charges, according to the release.
This case was investigated by the FBI and the Fort Wayne Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Miller Lowery.
