Richfield man accused of offering 11-year-old girl $50 for sexual favors on Cleveland street

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Richfield man is accused of offering an 11-year-old girl selling water on the side of the road $50 to perform sexual favors, according to police.

Kenneth Jarjabka, 61, is charged with importuning, criminal child enticement and possessing criminal tools, all third-degree felonies. He posted 10 percent of his $25,000 bond and was released from custody on Wednesday following his first court appearance.

The incident happened about 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Dollar General store on East 55th Street and Central Avenue.

The group of kids were selling water on the side of the road to drivers stopped in traffic when Jarjabka drove up in a white pick-up truck, according to police.

The kids walked up to his truck and asked if he wanted to buy water. Jarjabka told the kids: “Get in. I’ll give you $50 to take care of me,” according to police reports.

The traffic light turned green and Jarjabka told the kids he’d have to circle the block but would be back, according to police reports.

One of the kids walked up to another car, asked to use their phone and called police. Several calls surrounded the area searching for the truck.

One officer spotted Jarjabka’s white truck nearby and stopped it. Another officer with girl asked her to describe the truck, which matched the description of Jarjabka’s truck, police reports say.

The officers drove the girl to where Jarjabka was stopped and she identified him as the man who offered her money for sexual favors.

Officers noted that Jarjabka had a $50 bill in his pocket when he was arrested.
