Kokslien wins Nordic combined World Cup event

CHAUX-NEUVE, France (AP) — Mikko Kokslien of Norway won a three-way sprint to secure the victory at a Nordic combined World Cup event on Saturday, finishing ahead of countrymen Magnus Krog and Joergen Graabak.

Kokslien finished the concluding 10-kilometer cross-country race in 27 minutes, 14.4 seconds, beating Krog by 0.9 seconds and Graabak by 1.3.

World Cup leader Eric Frenzel of Germany finished fourth ahead of another Norwegian, Magnus Moan.

Frenzel had won the ski jumping portion, with Austria’s Wilhelm Denifel in second place and Frenchman Jason Lamy Chappuis — the Olympic champion — down in 11th spot heading into the 10K race.

Chappuis improved to finish in seventh place.
