Donovan to captain US in national team finale
BOSTON (AP) — Landon Donovan will captain the United States on Friday in his national team finale.
U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann said Tuesday the 32-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy forward will start and play about 30 minutes against Ecuador in the friendly at East Hartford, Connecticut.
Donovan, who is retiring at the end of Major League Soccer’s season, has scored 57 goals for the United States. It will be the 157th international appearance for Donovan, a veteran of three World Cups who was controversially dropped by Klinsmann for this year’s tournament in Brazil.
