Pursuit, carjacking ends with deadly shooting of suspect
BELTON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a Texas man with two felony arrest warrants has been fatally shot after a chase in which he carjacked a sport utility vehicle and fired at officers and a passing motorist.
The Kansas City Star reports that the Missouri State Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Preston Ray Holloway, of Houston, died Thursday morning at a hospital. The chase started Wednesday night after he fired at Belton officers during a traffic stop. The patrol says Holloway fired a gun at a motorist on Interstate 49 after his vehicle became disabled and then carjacked another vehicle. He drove to nearby Raymore, where he stopped in a subdivision.
He was shot after pointing a gun at his head and then at officers. One warrant for his arrest was in a drug case.
