NEW YORK (AP) _ Chris Kouri's 12-yard touchdown run ignited a 29-point third quarter that carried Yale to a 36-9 Ivy League rout Saturday of Columbia, the Bulldogs' eighth straight victory over the Lions.

Yale (4-2, 2-1) held a 7-3 halftime lead before Kouri capped a 57-yard drive for a 13-3 edge. Then Yale's defensive pressure forced two fumble recoveries in the Columbia end zone during a span of 2:15 in which the Eli scored 19 points despite just one offensive possession.

First, Fred Howard sacked Columbia quarterback John Tibolet, forcing a fumble recovered by Lael Kaplan. Then, Eric Drury blocked a punt by Kiernan O'Connor. Aaron Figler fell on the ball for a 26-3 lead.

Scott Wagner set up the final 10 points of the outburst with two interceptions, the first leading to a 32-yard field goal by Ed Perks. Wagner returned the second interception 63 yards for the final Eli touchdown.

Columbia (1-5, 1-2) held a brief 3-0 lead on Tom Boccafola's 27-yard field goal in the first quarter. But the Lions didn't score again until Greg Abbruzzese's 2-yard touchdown run with 6:48 remaining.
