Lowell Police Name New PIO
LOWELL -- Lowell police Capt. James Hodgdon has been named the department’s latest public information officer. Hodgdon has been a police officer for 30 years, with the last 23 years serving the Lowell Police Department. The 52-year-old captain is a third-generation police officer. He replaces former PIO Capt. Paul Laferriere.
In addition to the PIO position, Hodgdon additionally serves as the commanding officer for the department’s Professional Standards Division.

Pete Saran Band at Sr. Center
CHELMSFORD -- The Pete Saran Band will be the featured musical entertainment at the Friends of the Senior Center’s monthly dance fundraiser. The dance will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 from 7-10 p.m. at the Senior Center, 75 Groton Road. Event includes big band music, raffles, coffee and desert.
New, unwrapped toys will also be collected for Toys for Tots.

Annual craft fair in Wilmington
WILMINGTON -- The St. Thomas of Villanova Annual Craft Fair is set for Saturday, Nov. 17. The event will take place at the church, located at 216 Middlesex Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a variety of crafters from across New England, raffles, coffee, doughnuts and lunch. Andover bridge reopened
ANDOVER -- MassDOT announced the Tewksbury Street Bridge over the Pan Am Railroad in Andover was scheduled to reopen to traffic Friday, Nov. 9. However, the west side lane of the bridge will remain closed. Only a single lane will be open to traffic. Portable traffic signals will alternate the one-way traffic.
“With the reopening of the bridge, all major work activities associated with the bridge repairs will be substantially complete,” a MassDOT press release read. “The contractor will continue to work on minor punch list items through the end of November.”

Christmas fair at Saint William’s
TEWKSBURY -- The Saint William’s 2018 Christmas Fair will be held Sunday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Saint William’s Catholic Church is located at 1351 Main St. in Tewksbury.
There will be refreshments, children’s games and refreshments. Attendees can also try their luck at winning raffles. Funds raised at the event support the parish.

Tunefoolery back in Groton
GROTON -- Tunefoolery Music is a unique and courageous community of musicians in mental-health recovery who have created a safe place where loving support, paid work, and learning are the foundation for healing and recovery. Tunefoolery performed a concert at First Parish Church of Groton two years ago and returns on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
