Couple attacked, 2 rare puppies stolen, dog seriously hurt

June 18, 2015

AUBURN, Mass. (AP) — Police say two masked men pistol-whipped a man outside his home, assaulted his wife and stole the couple’s rare puppies.

Auburn police say the men hid in a wooded area Tuesday night when they rushed the man and hit him in the head several times before grabbing his house keys. Once inside, authorities say the men then assaulted the woman, stole two week-old American Bully puppies worth up to $2,500 each.

The assailants also kicked and stomped a Pomeranian, causing possibly life-threatening injuries.

The man has since been released from the hospital.

Police describe the attack as “calculated” and say the attackers knew the couple. They are investigating whether the couple was running an unlicensed dog breeding business.
