Taking art to the streets of Greenwich
GREENWICH — Even the threat of rain could not stop Art to the Avenue, which kicked off Thursday evening. Stores, windows and even the streets of downtown Greenwich were transformed into a strolling art gallery.
The 21st annual event is led by the Greenwich Arts Council.
Musicians and street performers filled the street, as the event began. The rain held off for about an hour, but evening the late evening showers could not dampen the mood at the festive event.
Most stores held receptions for the hundreds of visitors who attend to preview the work of over 120 artists. The art selected by the retailers remains in place through Memorial Day, so there is ample time for viewers to experience the “gallery” that downtown Greenwich becomes.
All the art on display is for sale, and a portion of the sale benefits GAC.
